Directions

Eingemachtes is actually a German word and in a literal translation would mean All in One. This is not an exception, the Zagreb cuisine is full of Germanisms. Steps

1
Done

In large pan heat oil and fry the chopped onions until slightly browned. Add the chopped carrot, celeriac and parsnip and stir for few minutes.

2
Done

Cut the chicken roughly into several pieces, salt and pepper well, and add to the pot with vegetables. Stir until the chicken is browned and the onion becomes transparent.

3
Done

Now add the chopped garlic and leave for a few more minutes until the garlic leaves its aroma. Now, add chicken broth and cook 30 more minutes.

4
Done

While chicken and vegetables are cooking, prepare dumplings. In a small bowl mix the flour, egg and 100-150 ml of lukewarm water and a teaspoon of salt. Slowly add the flour, stirring constantly to avoid creating lumps. The mixture should not be hard, but it must be firm enough not to come off of the spoon.

5
Done

When the vegetables are softened, add the peas. We will add it later because it needs less time to cook and we do not want them to fall apart. Add the dumplings using spoon.

6
Done

Add a spoonful of paprika. Stir well and cook for another 10 minutes until the dumplings do not float on the surface.
Finally, add a finely chopped parsley leaf, sprinkle and add as desired, and serve as a refreshing soup.
